The pathology unit of the regional hospital of Rionegro belongs to the public network of the department of Antioquia, East Antioquia is conformed by 23 municipalities.

Under the management of Dr. Luis Carlos Mejia, the antique laboratory was equipped (2020) with state-of-the-art technology for the production of histological plates and cytology, microscopy was renewed, permitting multiple observations for teaching, and the beginning of the telepathology program with modern image acquisition and processing.

The laboratory is coordinated by Dr. Jairo Sandoval, a doctor from the Javeriana University, a specialist in pathological anatomy from the Universidad del Cauca, and the Virgen de la Salud Hospital in Toledo, Spain.

It has Mrs. Estefania Vallejo as cytologist, a specialist in vaginal cytology, coordinator of the cervical cancer program at the institution.

Mr. Alexis Bermúdez, histotechnologist of the Antioquia Technology University, a specialist in histochemistry and preparation of specimens, as coordinator of the laboratory technical unit.

Mrs. Cristina Gutiérrez, coordinator of the secretary of the unit.

Numerous national and international rotating, residents, interns, and students, national and international, in addition to SEVHOR volunteers, in support of the final worthy program.
